I first noticed him peeking through the ferns into the living room, inquisitive and endearing. There was something about the distinctive markings on his face that made him standout from the other fawns that year. In fact, all of his patterns were bolder.

He was perhaps a few months old when I took this photo. Of course, at the time, I had no idea of his sex but guessed a male. And I was right, that next year his antler burrs appeared. I’d love to have those eyelashes!

Unlike many of the deer who pass through our property, he’s been easy to follow through the years because of his unique ‘mask.’ This photo is from a year or so ago. He’s still strong, healthy and strutting his style.

Thanks for browsing my blog. Have a wonderful weekend!
